Gastrointestinal surgery became my specialty because of its versatility: it combines surgery, research and interviewing patients in an inspiring way. My decision was finalized because of my mentor of that time who was very passionate about the specialty. 

The most important thing in patient work is to be able to meet the patients and hear their thoughts and wishes. It is also essential that the patient is satisfied. This can be achieved by listening and examining the patient, and the right diagnosis will be found through proper examination and the best course of treatment can be determined. It is also important for me to know how the patient has benefited from the treatment.
