Deputy Chief Physician
MD, PhD, Specialist
Cardiology
I became interested in cardiology because cardiovascular diseases are national diseases in Finland and I want to feel like the work I do is important. In addition, I have always enjoyed working with my hands. The best thing about being a cardiologist to me is often being able to do an immediate diagnosis and during the same visit also treat it, for example coronary stenosis. The field is also developing at a rapid pace, and a good example of that is the quickly growing number of the TAVI catheter procedures.
A good result, a successful procedure and helping the patient are what matter to me in patient care. The basis for this is a good doctor-patient relationship. What is also fascinating in intervetional cardiology is the patient’s rapid recovery after the procedure.
